CV Podcast: How a Year's Worth of Experience of PFA for AF Has Revolutionized My Practice

Patients with atrial fibrillation have typically undergone traditional catheter ablation via a thermal energy source. A newer energy modality is called pulsed field ablation, which uses a high-energy pulsation of strong voltages to destroy tissue responsible for atrial fibrillation. At Mayo Clinic, we have significant expertise in using this technology for our patients. This has changed our ablation practice and our approach to ablation, and has made a tremendous impact on atrial fibrillation management.

In this episode of the “Mayo Clinic Cardiovascular CME” podcast, host Anthony Kashou, M.D., is joined by experts Christopher DeSimone, M.D., Ph.D., and Abhishek Deshmukh, M.B.B.S., to discuss:

  • How the implementation of pulsed field ablation for atrial fibrillation has changed the practice.
  • Benefits of offering patients pulsed field ablation.
  • Experience with the technology.
  • Where the field of pulsed field ablation for atrial fibrillation is heading next.
